App Review: Rocket Bunnies

Author: iPhoneMama.com // Category:
Supports both of iPhone & iPad
A hilarious and addictive app which is flooded in App Store!

Presentation: 4/5
Feeding carrots to your baby bunnies on different planets through the universe by your rocket ship. In the meanwhile, you have to avoid many interstellar hazards in you quest. This theme of story is new and is actually originated from traditional Chinese. Chinese believes that there are some rabbits living on the moon. The theme of the game is funny and cute!
Travel the universe on iPhone and iPad!
Graphics: 4/5
The game is presented in 2D scrolling environment with 3D designs of character animations. The animations are pretty funny and energetic! Everyone will love the graphics!
Funny Game Over screen!
Sound: 4/5
Sound effects are really dynamic and vital! BGM makes you feel very pleasant while playing the game!

Gameplay: 5/5
Gameplay is very creative! You have to ride a rocket ship, tap the next planet to control you bunny to the planet to feed your baby bunnies! You can speed up your bunny if you can control the timing of arrival and leaving of a planet very well by gravity of a planet! And the main point of the gameplay is the control of speed of your bunny, so effective usage of gravity of planets is the key for players! Moreover, it is no doubt that the physics and gravity design of the universe are very realistic!
Do mind your ass, don't get burned because of the super huge sun!!!
Of course, there are many dangers in your quest, like explosive mines, giant space spiders, electricity arcs, huge sun, and asteroids. You have to figure out the best path to deliver carrots to your baby without meeting with any space dangers! And, you have to be carefully of the unlimited number of giant space spiders as they will follow you till the end of the game! The spiders make you feel short of breaths!!! >o<
How to avoid all these dangers!??
The Spider is coming after me L0L
Control: 3/5
Control is simple! Simply tapping to guide your bunny to your desired locations without touching any space dangers! The control of the game can be mastered in a minute! If the game can be added some special powers which can be activated by multi-touching gestures, then the game will be funnier and more challenging!
Leave the planet without meeting with its asteroid!
Lasting Appeal: 3/5
There are only 60 levels in the game. It's not less but also not many! Each level can be completed within 1-2 minutes, however, you have to get certain numbers of gold stars through playing each level effectively so as to unlock newer levels. As a result, you may need to play the same level several times. Nevertheless, you will feel bored easily by repeated playing of the same level as design of each level won't be changed at all! You will soon give up the game easily if you cannot obtain enough numbers of gold stars for unlocking the oncoming levels,
Speed you up if using gravity of a planet effectively!
Overall: (^^)
Thought the game is not recommended on App Store and it's not in the Top Paid list of App Store! However, with only lesser than $1 USD, you can be addicted to the game with much fun for many days!

App Review: Reckless Getaway

Author: iPhoneMama.com // Category:
Information
Robbing the bank and get away? Or the game robs you for $2.99? This game is listed as "New & noteworthy" in App Store, is it worth? Let's check it out!

Presentation: 3/5
Rob the bank and get away with your hard-earned loot; Dodge and outrun the oncoming traffic and pursuing police cars. The theme of the game is quite funny! But, it's a old concept and it's absolutely no good for kids to play.

Graphics: 4/5
The 3D environment is quite impressive. And, the design of each track is pretty good, you can see app developer pay effort for the design of each track.
The police is after me!!!
Sound: 3/5
It's hard to comment, just not outstanding but not bad. You won't feel bored while listening BGM and playing the game.

Gameplay: 2/5
To unlock new tracks, you have to obtain certain numbers of stars in each track. How to get more stars in each track? The game doesn't tell you, but we think you have to get more gold coins, crush more police cars, avoid the killing by camera due to slow speed , get more points by overtaking traffic and get stunning long jumps. You have many things to o while driving, but the complicated track and fast moving camera prevent you from doing the above tasks!! It's too pity that the height of screen is too short and camera moves too fast. As a result, we cannot foresee what kinds of obstacles and any change of track are in front of us, the players can be easily affected or killed by the above defects! We strongly suggest the game to use portrait view to kill the above problems!
Sudden block of road ahead always happens in the game ><
Besides, there is 1 more problem. Usually police cars will start to pursue you while you are almost next to them. However, sometimes, you cannot catch up with the camera due to traffic or sudden change of track, etc. You may drive more slowly than the speed of camera movement.  Consequently, police cars will start moving far far in front of you and you will see them turn laterally and try to crush you (supposed you will be next to them)! You will see how funny they move! They may hit the edge of opposite roads or fall down from bridge! Haha!
Why the police comes out before my arrival?
Control: 3/5
It's easy to control your car to weave in and out of oncoming traffic. We suggest a brake button for player to slow down the speed of car at certain circumstances. It will help players explore the track and avoid obstacles.
Use nearby traffic as a shield to protect yourself!!
Lasting appeal: 2/5
Only 17 tracks cannot fulfill the players' $2.99! If there is a survival mode, that will surely make players keep the icon of the game on springboard a little longer!

Overall:(ー_ー;)
It's another driving game with pursuing police cars on iPhone and iPad. If it costs $0.99, we may recommend it. Nevertheless, we don't think it is worth for $2.99 because of the weak lasing appeal and difficulty to explore each track. We cannot recommend it especially the game has a bad idea: Rob the bank and get away... Why app developers think that a bad idea of game can increase sale?

App Review: Flick Golf Extreme

Author: iPhoneMama.com // Category:
Flick a golf ball to the hole on your iPhone!

Presentation: 4/5
It's not a traditional golf game, you have to play golf in 5 different golf courses far beyond your imaginations, like aircraft carrier, canyon & waterfall, Venice, skyscrapers and oil rig. Plus, some locations where you hit a golf is quite creative, for example, on a flying military helicopter, on a Venice boat. How exiting!!

Have you played golf on aircraft carrier?

There is a hole on Venice boat!

Graphics: 5/5
It is a 3D game, the 3D environments are REALLY gorgeous! It has the same level of quality of graphics when compared with Infinity Blade! It supports iPhone 4 retina screen fully, so it's awesome! You have to thanks Steve Jobs's genius!
Cool graphic!

Sound: 3/5
Not outstanding, but not bad!

Control: 4/5
It's quite creative that you can control a ball while it's in air by swiping gesture! Although you can alter the track of ball in air, it's very difficult to hit a ball into each hole! So, it's challenging and addictive for every player!

Lasting appeal: 3/5
There are 3 modes for you to play, but they are quite similar. Additionally, only 5 different golf courses are available. It's not enough for game devotees! Although this game has 30 achievements for you to unlock, it cannot make players to have enough interest to unlock them all as some achievements are really hard to unlock!

However, this game is still quite addictive and challenging. At least you will remove this game until you have unlocked and played all golf courses. It can still last on you iPhone for a while because of its difficulty and creativity!

Are you confident to hit a hole on another top of skyscraper? It seems too distant!
Overall:
We think it's not worth for $2.99 because it has only 5 different golf courses. Why most 3D games cost more expensive than 2D games? We don't think the cost of development of 3D games must be bigger than that of 2D game (><)

Nonetheless, if just counting for its creativity and interesting environments of golf courses, it's worth to play! So, we just recommend this game to everyone who has a spare $2.99! Thanks for reading!

App Review: Deathsmiles

Author: iPhoneMama.com // Category:

Information
The most expensive iPhone game in 2011, from the famous Japanese shooting game developer - Cave, from Arcade to XBOX 360 and this game: Deathsmiles has finally arrived on your iPhone! Why Cave has such confidence to tag Deathsmiles for $11.99? Here we will find out!

Presentation: 5/5
When a classic horizontal side scrolling shooting arcade game is packed with aesthetic style, heavy occult, Gothic designs and 5 young girls in Japanese comic style as the main characters, the game becomes totally awesome and fantastic!! Gothic lolita and maid are so popular and attractive among the new generation!

My Majesties, I will obey your commands!
Story: Save the world, Princess Lolita
Graphics: 3/5
The graphics of the game are completely transplanted from Arcade, so it doesn't not support iPhone 4 Retina display. It's a bit disappointed, it makes graphics of the game have many obvious pixels and the main characters are unclear. However, the complete transplantation of Arcade graphics can keep the sense of Arcade on the iOS system. Fans of Deathsmiles will be very happy because they can finally play an Arcade game anytime handily!

In spite of no support to iPhone 4 Retina display, the presentation of graphics is really stunning and surpassing! The designs of waves of bullets, backgrounds, main characters & enemies are definitely painstaking!! And this is the unique competence that Japanese game developers have!

Fighting against a super huge cow??

Kill the fire dragon boss with no mercy!!!
Sound: 5/5
Exciting and excellent sounds and BGM! They act as adrenaline which drives your blood pressure high! Once you start to play the game with BGM on, you can't pause it until the game is over...sound of the game is really a part of soul of the game!

(PS: There is a new BGM exclusive to iPhone mode, it's a good news for the devotees of the game!)

Gameplay: 4/5
It is quite creative among traditional horizontal side scrolling shooting games. Enemies have different properties, you have to shoot them with use of either LASER or SHOT mode. If you shot down enemies with the right attack mode, then it can speed up the POWER UP energy and help you unlock more achievements.

Besides, you can attack the enemies which are just above and below you with use of Lock Shot. It helps you to kill the enemies which are located out of your attack range.

Further, the design of shooting left and right can increase delight and difficulty of the game. You have to pay more attention to your back while killing enemies in front. Also, the touching symbols in order while a boss is critical gives you another funny way to play!

Shoot left and right!

Touch the correct order of symbols can trigger an ultimate attack to kill boss!!
Control: 5/5
The sensitive control of movement of main character can help you advert every bullet from flood of enemies! Plus, you can choose your favorite button layouts in the Options, it certainly helps beginners to handle controls!

Lasting appeal: 5/5
There are 3 chapters and 2 scenes per chapter for the first 6 stages. In addition, player can choose difficulty levels between 1 to 3 (or 999 in hidden content). After completing 6 stages, the final stage (Chapter 4) will be unlocked if certain conditions are met at the end of Stage Chapter 3 Scene 2.

In iPhone mode, players can power up Princess Tiara by using different equipment and items bought from Sakura's shop. This addition of RPG element can surely consume much of your leisure. Moreover, with support to Game Center & Open Feint, you can view scores and achievements of world-wide players.

RPG feature: Sakura's Shop

Exclusive character for iOS: Princess Tiara, designed by Yukinatus Mori

Overall:
This game scores 4 full marks out of the 6 sections of review, and this is the highest scores that iPhoneMama.com rated!

As the devotees of Cave or Deathsmiles, they can own the game with exclusively 1 more new sexy and young character, Sakura's shop and a new BGM on their handy iPhone devices. So, $11.99 is absolutely NOT a matter for those devotees! Nonetheless, for the players which are new to Cave or Deathsmiles, will you spend $11.99 to buy this game?

App Review: Transformers Dark of the Moon

Author: iPhoneMama.com // Category:
Is it another perfunctory movie game from EA?
Information

Presentation: 3/5
Transformer 3 movie has rolled out together with this iOS game: Transformers: Dark of the moon. This game is totally a movie spoiler, it covers with all story-lines of Transformer 3. We strongly suggest you to avoid playing this game if you have not watched the movie yet. However, if you have already watch the movie and envisage finding out some hidden secrets or story behind the movie, this time you will be disappointed. This game is just a copy of the movie! No surprise!!

Besides, players can only control Autobots throughout the game. If the game allows players to control either Autobots or Decepticons, then it will be great that we can play a role as Decepticons to conquer the world in this game (^^)

More, if the story can focus more on the pros and cons of destroying the Earth, then this game will be much more meaningful and educational! As iPhoneMama, we don’t want our kids to play a game just for leisure and we will be happy if they can get any knowledge behind a game.

Play as Autobots ONLY...
Graphics: 4/5
As a 3D game on iOS device, we believe it has already fully utilized the power of the iPhone 4 retina screen and the A4 CPU. You cannot expect more! The game runs very smooth even there are increased numbers of Decepticons on the screen at the same time. Plus the comic of intro is really awesome and stylish!

Sentinel Prime!

Cool comic!
Sound: 4/5
Sound effect of transforming is always awesome! Background music of the game makes you be in a world of transformers!!

Gameplay: 3/5
We think there are too many breaks in gameplay, developers seems to want to tell you the entire story of Transformers 3! Maybe they think that you have no time to watch the movie. Haha!

In addition, it’s quite smooth to transform between Optimus Prime robot and vehicle. Every Transformers fan will surely have fun to transform his/her favorite characters repeatedly and repeatedly even there is no need to transform his/her characters for helping his/her fight! :>

Though there are a few ways to attack, including punch attack, gun shooting, broadsword hacking, tracing missiles, fighting is too REPETITIVE! You don’t need to be skillful at fighting, just simply tap and tap the attack buttons, and perform the ultimate attack once you are fully charged. Then, the evil Decepticons will be easily killed by you with no mercy! :<

Enemy is exploded!

How do you deal with a flood of Decepticons? Tracing missile is your only choice!
Control: 3/5
To avoid repetitive fights and fully utilize iOS multi-touching screen, developers have added something new to this game, like sliding the super attack button, then multi-tapping to lock the evil Decepticons on screen and performing the ultimate attack. You will find fun with it for the first 2 levels, then you will feel bored due to repetitive fights.

Nonetheless, the driving system is too sensitive! It’s a bit hard to control your vehicle!

Lasting appeal: 2/5
There are only 3 Autobots (You can only use Sentinel Prime in tutorial) , 13 intense levels (1 level is tutorial, just a minute long), 13 upgradable weapons and 33 achievements for you to help saving the world! As fans of Transformers, we expect more Autobots and Decepticons, more levels! The game is really too short! Nevertheless, upgrade system for weapon and character can make you play this game a little longer!

Select your weapon!
Overall:
Just like all movie games, this game is created to suck fans' money! We expect more, developers!

App Review: To-Fu: The Trials of Chi

Author: iPhoneMama.com // Category:
Another funny kill-time game? Or it kills its developer?
Information
Presentation: 3/5
A funny concept of this game: A To-Fu ninja tries to avoid all obstacles, gets as many blue sparkles as possible and find the exit to complete a level. It's quite funny for using a To-Fu ninja as the main character of this game. But...despite of controlling a To Fu, what else can make the game attracts players? Probably none!

Graphics: 4/5
Great and awesome Japanese-style graphics! It supports iPhone Retina screen so perfectly. You even can't see any pixel on your iPhone 4 screen!

Retina graphics!

Japanese style UI and menus
The most creative design is the springboard icon of this game is actually the To-Fu character!

A To-Fu character and it's an icon!
Sound: 2/5
Repeat an repeat Japanese background music makes you bored! The rhyme of background music is too stereotype! We suggest to use some dynamic musics which will certainly drive player more excited! The developers of this game shall never forget the importance of how musics & sound FX can affect players' mood to enjoy with a game!

Gameplay: 3/5
At the beginning, you may feel that the gameplay is quite innovative:  Stretch your character and ping it along wall so as to guide it to the exit of each level. However, you will find designs of levels are too simple and bored. If you just want to complete a level without getting all blue sparkles in each level, you will feel that the game is for the retarded only!

Further, the obstacles of levels are limited, e.g. spikes, laser, spinning blades and...oh! Sorry, we can't find anymore obstacles... LoL

Spinning blade kills you in a second!

Spikes and spikes!
Control: 3/5
Stretch and ping...and no more!

I'm ready to be stretched!
Lasting Appeal: 2/5
There are totally 120 levels, but each level only takes you 30-45 secs to complete. And, there are totally 22 achievements for you to complete, nonetheless all achievements can be completed so easily. More, this game supports Game Center...it just simply lists out which achievement you have unlocked so far and that's all! Please don't expect you can review your total play time, total number of blue sparkles collected, etc.

Conclusion:
Is it worth for $0.99? One US dollar seems nothing to almost all people. It's fine to buy it if you have a spare one dollar and you have leisure to WASTE.

This is a strong advice to all iOS developers: If you figured out a great creative game-play, don't waste it. Please be sincere to your project! Don't waste your idea! Elements to build a great game not only include a great idea, but also cool graphics, sounds, story, game-play and the most importantly: you HEART!

App Review: Street Fighter IV Volt

Author: iPhoneMama.com // Category:
Information
Is it worth to pay $5.99 to buy a new version of Street Fighter IV (SF IV) with the long waiting function: Online Versus?

For fans of Street Fighter and iPhone users, it is great that SF IV has finally arrived with Online Versus mode, we can now play against different international players by Online Versus. It's so exciting, doesn't it?

However, if you have already bought the original SF IV (iOS version), I think you are still struggling whether it is worth to spend an additional $5.99 to buy SF IV Volt, isn't it? So, this review will help you to find the answer.

NEW feature: Online Versus!!!
Presentation: 2/5
SF IV Volt is just another Capcom's money-sucking game. The story of each character is as same as previous SF versions. But, SF fans just want to fight, they won't consider the story of each character, right?

Graphics: 5/5
It's no doubt that the graphics of SF IV Volt are awesome! You can't argue how impressive that iPhone and iPad can bring you such high quality of graphics. UI images and font are similarly drawn or written with Chinese or Japanese traditional brush pen, it's cool and unique! And, the cubic avatar icon is super cute!

Just a word to describes graphics: COOL!!!

Funny cubic avatar icons!
Sound: 4/5
Again, we can't doubt about sound of SF IV Volt. Sound is very energetic, makes player feel excited and full of adrenaline!! Nonetheless, it's too easy to cover the speaker of your iPhone while playing the game because you have to hold tight iPhone to perform combo skills. So, we suggest you to use earphone while playing.

Gameplay: 3/5
The most important reason why you consider to buy this game even you have bought the original SF IV app is "Online Versus".
For the searching of online opponents, we think that it's quite easy to match someone. And, your opponents always have similar rank like you. You won't be afraid of facing some very powerful opponents in online versus.

Nevertheless, the speed of online versus suck! The percentage of getting disconnected or experiencing extremely slow speed of game while playing online versus is 50%! Maybe the online connection depends on the speed of your opponent's ISP and the distance of your opponent. But, we can't select the one with faster speed of connection and closer location, it's a bit sadly!

One more sadly issue is you can ONLY play online versus by WIFI connection. You CAN'T play SF IV Volt with 3G :<
It's not easy to get a good WIFI connection while you're going out. It's quite contradictory that we want to play online versus when we are free and out, e.g. waiting a bus.

Playing online by WIFI connection only...

Control: 3/5
The big weakness of control is that there is NO physical buttons on your iPhone. It makes player difficult to perform some combo skills. We believe that every SF fan would like to play SF by real joystick. Additionally, shortcut buttons make the execution of super combo too easy to be performed, it's too simple for experienced SF players. If Apple, Inc. can raise the limit of playing iOS games with use of Blue-tooth joystick or keyboard, it would be perfect for every SF fan, including our editors.

Lasting Appeal: 5/5
With online versus function, you can now challenge against any international players and the drop-in feature can make you busy with your iPhone anytime! We suggest you have to bring along a battery charger of iPhone anytime! Haha!! You will continue to play online versus to find the opponent who can beat you at last if you believe you're a lonely and the strongest street fighter in the world :P

Besides, this time, Capcom brings you "Challenge Bingo" in online versus. There are 9 different missions for you to complete in online versus, you can earn special points to upgrade your avatar, and purchase titles that directly affect your avatar's battles. The 9 missions change daily.

Bingo card allows you to earn Special points for upgrading your avatar!
Moreover, the Player Cards function can let you view your personal stat and stat of the opponents you've encountered with. It lists your total play time, ranked match record, win streak, drop rate, number of times used of each character, achievement, etc. All these records make you heavily addict to SF IV Volt, you have to admit it!

Player card
Furthermore, there are 17 ready-to-use characters, including the new ones: Balrog, Vega and Cody! And unexpectedly, the most powerful character: Akuma is waiting for you to unlock and play!! The million-dollar question: How do you unlock Akuma?

More characters to play, including the legend: Akuma!
Plus the replays function can let you re-enjoy with how your friends or opponents are defeated by you! Showing the replays of how you have defeated your friends to your friends is so hurtful : )

Conclusion
For the SF fans who have not bought the previous version of SF IV on iPhone, it's worth to buy this Volt version of online versus.

For the SF fans who have already bought the previous version of SF IV on iPhone, if you have spare money and really want to play online versus, it's fine to buy it.

However,we think Capcom only just re-releases the whole thing with minimal added features each time. If you really want Capcom to suck your money, we think you should wait for the next update of SF IV Volt, we certainly believe that Capcom will release an update with more characters. Maybe the next update is called Super SF IV Volt :)

Will Capcom release an update with ALL characters in SF series someday? Will Capcom release Capcom heroes VS Marvel heroes on iPhone. That's the dream of all SF fans for sure!

Where's all my money?
Anyway, SF is a memory for all of us! We all grew up with Ryu & Ken!!
